Myelin Basic Protein

Myelin basic protein (MBP) is reported to account for about 30% of myelin protein in the central nervous system. MBP can induce experiment allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE), a delayed-type hypersensitivity diseases disease mediated by T lymphocytes. The reactions to different fragments of 170 amino acid peptides are presented in each animal genus. And four different subtunit determined by cDNA cloning. Beside, , the four isomers are the same expect to two insert, or deleted peptide fragments which encode by code 2 and code 5.It has been reported that myelin basic proteins are expressed in Oligodendrocyte ,brain and white matter of the spinal cord myelin as well as peripheral nerve. But it is expressed less in gray matter of the spinal cord myelin.
