Stathmin

Stathmin is widely found in cytoplasmic phosphoprotein, which has the role of controlling signals in the cell and integrating the cellular environment. The protein it marks makes the microtubules unstable and is related to the control of the microtubule system. Stathmin avoids the polymerization of microtubules and promotes the depolymerization of microtubules. The overexpression of Stathmin will enhance the depolymerization of microtubules. The expression of Stathmin will accompany the sensitivity of lung cancer cells to vindesine and become a surrogate marker of vinblastine chemotherapy sensitivity for lung cancer. The antisense inhibition of Stathmin for paclitaxel-resistant leukemia cells increases their sensitivity to chemotherapy. The research from Rafael R shows that NSCLC's response for vinorelbine/cisplatin will be disrupted by the expression of Stathmin . Patients with low expression of Stathmin have a better prognosis than those with high expression of Stathmin.
