Langerin(12D6),MMab

Langerin is an II transmembrane C-type agglutinin which has mannose bindingspecificity and is 40kD protein. limited to Langerhans cells. Also, it involves the internalization of matter on the surface of cells in the immature dendritic cells. Dendritic cells are antigen-transmitting cells that are necessary to initiate a specific T-cell-driven immune response. These dendritic cells are immature cells, present in non-lymphatic tissue, and the main function is to capture antigens through the endocytosis structure of the specificmembranesurface or macropinocytosis. Then, dendritic cells migrate to secondary lymphatic tissue and develop maturation into highly effective antigen-presenting cells. The maturation process includes the loss of adhesion receptors such as a portion of E cadherin and the disappearance of Birbeck particles.Although Langerin is said to be located on the cell surface, but it can be quickly internalized after the Birbeck particles captured cell ligand. Actually,Langerin is a strong inducing factor for membrane folding and pairing, which can lead to the formation of Birbeck particles. The report shows that the induction of Birbeck particles is the result of function of Langerin antigen capture, which allows antigens to enter these organelles and provide a way to treat non-classical antigens.
