CD61 antigen, also known as GPllla, is a 105kD glycoprotein found in platelets, monocytes, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, B cells, macrophages, mast cells, and fibroblasts.CD61 antigen plays a role in platelet aggregation and is a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronuctin, von Willebrand cytokines, and hyaline.Little or no CD61 antigen has been reported in patients with Glanzmann's thrombocytopenia. Most cases of megakaryocyte leukemia express CD61 antigen.
