DES-DER11 reacts with the rod portion of 18kD of the nodule protein (53KD) of myocyte intermediate filaggrin. The antibody does not recognize other intermediate filaments. In normal tissue.DES-DER11 reacts with both striated (skeletal and cardiac) and smooth muscle cells. The marking (staining) in skeletal and cardiac muscle is limited to the z-line, presenting a characteristic transverse appearance.
