Galectin-3 is a member of the β-galactose-binding lectin family with a molecular weight of 30kD. The expression may involve the adhesion of homologous cells, and is detected down-regulation in colon and breast cancer. This down-regulation may allow cancer cells to interact with laminin and promote cancer cell invasion and metastasis. This antibody is used for differential diagnosis of thyroid follicular adenoma, follicular carcinoma and papillary carcinoma.
This antibody is intended for use in Immunohistochemical applications on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues (FFPE). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient’s clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
