The research has shown that CK8/18 expresses monolayer or glandular epithelium in tumors or normal tissues, such as thyroid, breast, gastrointestinal tract, and respiratory epithelium. It is expressed in adenocarcinoma and most cases of non-keratinized squamous cell carcinoma, but not in keratinized squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, this antibody is usually utilized in combination with CK5/6 for the differentiation of adenosine and squamous cell carcinoma.
