Carbonic Antydrase 9/(CAIX)

Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is an enzyme that assists in the rapid synthesis of Carbonic acid, protons, and bicarbonate ions from carbon dioxide and water. It is highly expressed in mammalian tissues. There are many genes that induce hypoxia by hif-1 induction, and ca-9 is the most important of these genes due to its stability and location in the membrane.Carbonic anhydrase regulates the PH value in normal tissues by regulating hydrogen ions. The change of PH can reflect the cell death under hypoxia. The high expression of ca-9 leads to the increase of cell death under hypoxia. Therefore, ca-9 is a reliable histochemical marker reflecting hypoxia.
