In aerobic respiration, succinate dehydrogenase catalyzes succinate and ubiquinone to be fumarate and panthenol respectively. SDH protein is composed of four subunits: yellow pigment subunit (SDHA), iron-sulfur protein (SDHB), and two membrane-bound subunits (SDHC and SDHD). Mutations in these subunits can cause different mitochondrial dysfunctions.
