  • Staining Principle

Oil Red O is also known as Sudan Red 5B. The mechanism of Sudan dyes for lipid staining is generally considered to be a physical solution or adsorption effect, and the fat is stained by the solution effect. The Sudan dye is  dissolved in an organic solvent. The solubility of Sudan dye in the lipid in the frozen section is greater than that in the original solvent. So the dye is transferred from the organic solvent to the lipid to make fat stained.

  • Application: For fat staining  in tissue cells
  • Strong coloring ability, short dyeing time, bright colors
