Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAcP) is a basic ion-binding protein with high activity on phosphoprotein ATP and 4-nitrophenol phosphate. It is reported that this isozyme is expressed in human alveolar macrophages, osteoclasts, spleen and liver. It has been reported that TRAcP expression is increased in spleen and monocytes in individuals of Gaucher's disease, spleen cells and circulating leukocytes in individuals of hairy cell leukemia, spleens in individuals of Hodgkin's disease, and serum in which individuals flow through activated bone cells. It has been reported that the increased expression of TRAcP is related to a variety of B-cell and T-cell leukemias and lymphomas, as well as placental decidual cells, trophoblast cells, and some macrophages distributed throughout the entire process of maternal and fetal tissues.
