Product Application:
Used to demonstrate glycogen and other polysaccharide substances (neutral mucin, glycoprotein).
Staining Principle:
Periodic acid oxidizes the polysaccharide diol groups in cells into aldehyde groups, which combine with the colorless fuchsin in Schiff’s reagent and stain red.
Staining Results:
Glycogen is stained red or purplish‑red.
