GCDFP-15(23A3),MMab
Mammary cystic disease is a benign lesion of the breast occurring in premenopausal women, with cysts being the primary pathological alteration. Cytosolic analysis of normal tissue specimens from all major organs has demonstrated that GCDP-15 protein is present in apocrine epithelium, the lacrimal sac, ceruminous and Moll's glands, as well as in the serous cells of the majority of submandibular glands, trachea, bronchi, sublingual glands, and minor salivary glands. GCDP-15 has been detected at various concentrations in the cytosol of breast cancer tissues, with the highest concentrations observed in well-differentiated breast carcinomas. In normal breast lobules and small ducts, only occasional epithelial cells test positive for GCDP-15. Expression has also been reported in areas of apocrine metaplasia within fibroadenomas. Furthermore, GCDP-15 has been reported to be co-expressed with prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in androgen receptor-positive breast tumors.
