Galectin-3(EP412),RMab

Galectin-3 is a member of the β-galactoside-binding lectin family. It is involved in several biological activities, including being embedded in the laminin layer of the basement membrane glycoprotein. Cell surface Galectin-3 may be involved in homotypic cell adhesion and is downregulated in colon cancer progression. A similar downregulation has been reported in breast cancer. The downregulation of Galectin-3 may be one of the many mechanisms that allow cancer cells to interact with laminin, thereby promoting cancer cell invasion and metastasis. Its activated invasive phenotype has been confirmed in many types of tumors. It has been reported that Galectin-3 is detected in anaplastic large cell lymphoma, but not in different types of Hodgkin's disease or Reed- Sternberg cells. As a 30 kD protein, it is mainly expressed in the nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria, cell surface, and extracellular matrix. It is mainly used for the differential diagnosis of thyroid follicular adenoma, follicular carcinoma, and papillary carcinoma. At the same time, based on its strong positive expression in the negative-like invasion of microinvasive follicular carcinoma, it guides the identification of follicular adenoma and microinvasive carcinoma.
