CD38 (C3G3), MMab

CD38 is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 46 kDa. CD38 is an enzyme with ADP-ribosyl cyclase, cycic ADP-ribose hydrolase, and NAD glycohydrolase activities, and is involved in the formation and hydrolysis of cADPR. cADPR acts as a second messenger to regulate intracellular Ca2+ ion mobilization. Although the CD38 molecule was originally described as a T-lymphocyte differentiation antigen, the CD38 antigen is found in cells and tissues. The CD38 antigen can provide favorable signals for the growth and differentiation of lymphocytes and myeloid cells. During the differentiation process of mature B cells and T cells, it is not found in most mature peripheral lymphocytes. CD38 is also present in thymocytes, pro-B cells, erminal center B cells, mitogen-activatedT cells 18-secreting plasma cells, NK cells, myeloid erythroid and myeloid cells, and brain cells. It has been reported that the CD38 antigen is also expressed in peripheral neurofibromas, is a pathological indicator of Alzheimer's disease, and appears in theper nuclear body and proximal dendrites of neurons.
