CD31(C12A6),MMab
The CD31 antigen is a single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 130to 140 kDa. The CD31 molecule is expressed on the surface of platelets, monocytes, granulocytes, B cells and at the intercellular junctions of endothe lial cells. The CD31 molecule has an extracellular domainsubclass domains, which is a typical cell-cell adhesion molecule. Thiscontaining 6 lg-like homology c2domain mediates endothe lial cell-cell adhesion and plays a role in maintaining the connection between endothe lial cells and the stability of the endothe lial monolayer. The CD31 molecule also has a cytoplasmic domain that becomes a potential phosphorylation site after cell activation. The properties of the CD31 antigen indicate that it is involved in interations in angiogenesis, thrombosis, and wound healing. Angiogenesis is the basis of tumor growth and metastasis.
