Cytokeratin Pan (AE1/AE3),MMab
Keratins are a family of insoluble proteins with molecular weights ranging from 40 to 70 kDa. These proteins form tonofilaments in the epidermis and nearly all other epithelia and belong to the intermediate filament family. Similar tocellular differentiation, normal epidermal maturation is characterized by a series of morphological and biochemical changes progressing from the basal layer through the spinous and granular layers to the cornified layer. The AE1/AE3 antibody is a mixture of the AE1 and AE3 cones. Clone AE1 recognizes type I cytokeratins, incuding CK10CK15, CK16, and CK19, whereas clone AE3 recognizes type ll cytokeratins, including CK1, CK2, CK3, CK4, CK5, CK6, and CK8. Therefore, AE1/AE3 is a broad- spectrum anti-cytokeratin antibody. Cytokeratins of approximately 56 kDa and 65-67 kDa are specifically expressed throughout the process of terminal diferentiation of epithelial cells and can be considered molecular markers of keratinization.
