GATA1, a member of the GATA family, was first discovered and expressed in the early erythrocytes, megakaryocyte, eosnophils, mastocyte, testicular substrate Sertoli cell, non-hematopoietic embryonic stem cells. The transcription factor GATA1 plays an important biological role in the proliferation and differentiation of normal red blood cells and controls the differentiation of megakaryocyte, mast cells and eosinophilic cells. The transcription factor ,GATA1, can interact with many biological macromolecules, such as erythropoietin (EPO) FOG(friend of GATA) GATA2, which plays an important biological effect in the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma and leukemia as well as thrombocytopenia.
