Synaptophysin is an integrated membrane glycoprotein that exists in the presynaptic vesicle membrane of neurons. It is mainly used for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of neuroendocrine cell tumors (APUD system tumors), such as small cell carcinoma of the lung, adrenal pheochromocytoma, and medullary thyroid carcinoma.
