S100p

S100p is a member of the S100 protein family, which its abnormal expression in tumors plays an important role in tumor growth, proliferation, invasion and metastasis through various signaling pathways. It was first found in high expression in placental tissue. It is highly expressed in pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma, but not in benign pancreatic duct and acinar gland. It is reported that S100P is expressed in all infiltrating components of intraductal papillary mucinous tumors, including nerves, lymph nodes and microinfiltration. S100P shows strongly positive in 90% primary cancer bile duct biopsies, but it shows negative in benign biopsy tissues. Therefore, for bile duct biopsy specimens, S100P can help us distinguish between cancer and reactive epithelial changes. At the same time, S100P is also one of the specific markers of urothelial carcinoma.
