CD99

CD99 is a 32kDa transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the MIC2 gene and located in the pseudoautosomal region of the human X and Y chromosomes.Recently, it has been found that the MIC2 gene encodes two different proteins produced by CD99 gene transcriptional selective splicing and identified as 30 and 32 kda (p30/32) bands.CD99 has been reported to be expressed in most human tissues, including cortical thymic cells, pancreatic islet cells, Leydig and Sertoli cells, almost all types of hematopoietic cells (except granulocytes), peripheral blood lymphocytes, ovarian granulosa cells, endothelial cells, and basal squamous epithelial cells.CD99 is expressed in a variety of tumors, including Ewing sarcoma and t-cell lymphoma.
