Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein with a molecular weight of 34KD, belonging to kallikrein family enzymes of serine protease and initially isolated and purified from human semen. It was later found to be identical and biologically similar to protein immunology isolated from the prostate.But PSA differs from prostatic acid phosphatase(PAP). PSA is reported to be expressed at low levels in non-prostate tissues and tumors such as breast cancer.
