Granulase is an exogenous serine protease produced by cytotoxic T cells and cytoplasmic particles of natural killer cells. Their role is to induce the natural apoptosis of the infected cells, thus destroying the infected cells. Granulase antibodies are used to detect natural killer cells, T-cell lymphoma, and mesodestatic large cell lymphoma. In Hodgkin's lymphoma, the presence of high percentages of toxic T-cells is a poor prognostic indicator.
